“We have the impression that those potatoes sprayed with Crop Fuel®, show less late blight pressure than the surrounding fields”

Father and son Draijer operate a farm in Ommelanderwijk (Groningen) in the Netherlands. The cropping plan is made up of starch potatoes, sugarbeets, cereals and Parisian carrots.

Crop Fuel® has been used on potatoes and Parisian carrots since 2009.  “On our farm, several trials have been done on starch potatoes over the past few years. We sprayed a total of 15 Litres per hectare at a rate of 6 x 2.5 litres per hectare. The yield increased significantly for the variety Festien in these experiments. The size profile is also more even in the Festien seed potatoes when sprayed with Crop Fuel®. We also have the impression that those potatoes spryed with Crop Fuel®, show less late blight pressure than the surrounding fields” according to Geert Draijer.

Father and son Draijer also have positive experiences with the use of Crop Fuel® on Parisian carrots. According to Draijer: “With this crop it is important to get a consistent size product. We want as few in the under- and over-size as possible since they are not used by the processor. We sprayed our carrots 4 times with Crop Fuel® at 2.5 litres per hectare. At harvest time we noticed right away that we had more carrots in the marketable size range. I don’t think that Crop Fuel® affects the larger size carrots however does affect the smaller carrots.”
